Blog Question for Week Seven

What makes servant leaders distinct from other leadership types? Does this make them better or worse leaders?

  1. Servant leaders are leaders who usually have to work their way up to the positions that they hold. Servant leaders are unique compared to the other leadership types because they have to lead by example and it takes longer for them to get to the top. They show their leadership potential by helping people out and by serving their communities. They aren't as famous or prominent as the other types of leaders and they usually affect a smaller audience than the other types of leaders would. In my opinion, this doesn't make the better or worse leaders. A leader is anyone who can take charge of something and tries their best to make it successful which is what most leaders do. Servant leaders just approach things differently and have a different path to success. I could argue that they are worse leaders only because they mostly affect smaller populations although there are some exceptions like Ghandi and Mother Theresa. Service leaders, are in the end, leaders and thats what they should be remembered for.
